Love is like playing the piano. First you must learn to play by the rules, then you must forget the rules and play from your heart.

The sound of music filled the small theatre at the W. Ross Macdonald Auditorium as today was dress rehearsal day for Miss Maggie Morrison.  This weekend, Maggie will play three recitals to raise awareness for "Maggie Morrison's Fund for Early Exposure to the Arts"   I was honoured to be able to take part of such a wonderful cause!

A little JS Bach, F. Chopin, M. Ravel, and Alexina Louie...

If you have the time, and would like to listen to this fabulous young artist I encourage you to do so!!  For more info follow this link:

Good evening readers!! Today, I braved another day of -20 weather and headed into the "wilderness" to photograph a wonderful young couple! It must have been the coldest day of the season but despite the freezing weather, we managed to snap a few great shots!!

I went to school with Miss A, and I am honoured to be able to capture her engagement pictures as well as her wedding in October!!  There is nothing better when there is love in the air!!

Thank you to Miss A and Mr R for putting up with the freezing temperatures!!

Stay tuned readers! This upcoming week will be interesting as I attempt to play with exposures, external flashes and of course snow.  While teaching myself about over exposures, under exposures, shutter speeds for falling snow. I hope to be able to blog about my expermiments and experiences.  Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

-13 feels like -50 with wind chill

Hello Readers!   I can honestly say that this is my first official Blog for Hanlon Lain Photography! And what can I say other than I am excited that I have this new fun tool to advertise my business as well as share other amazing things that inspire me.

Today I had the opportunity to meet with a young family in Brantford, ON to discuss their wedding as well as to take a few engagement pictures!!

First Stop: The Hermitage Ruins.   What a gorgeous location for an engagement shoot! Despite the cold, we managed to snap a few amazing pictures as well see some wildlife!  While shooting one particular picture, Miss T told me to turn around, only to see three deer wandering in the woods!  What an amazing thing to see on  such a cold cold cold day!

Can you see the deer?!!!
Second Stop: Webster Falls.  ICE ICE BABY!  Beautiful location but I was disappointed we couldn't get to the bottom of the falls to take some pictures as the stairs were complete ice and snow! However, pictures over the top were amazing and the view was to die for!

I am really looking forward to working with this great couple in May for their wedding!!!
